This Month's Book Recommendation is a Teenage Take on Sherlock Holmes

A Study in Charlotte by Brittany Cavallaro

We can’t seem to get enough Sherlock Holmes adaptations, and this Charlotte Holmes series will catch the eye of readers looking for a fresh reimagining of one of literature’s favorite duos. Brittany Cavallaro’s books are set in the present day and follow the adventures of teenagers Charlotte, a Holmes descendant, and Jamie, a Watson descendant. In A Study in Charlotte, Jamie knows every generation has had a Holmes/Watson pairing and it rarely ends well, so he does his best to avoid the enigmatic Charlotte Holmes at his new boarding school. But he can’t help but be drawn in by the brilliant and volatile Charlotte, who has all the unusual tendencies of her famous forefather, and their complicated friendship soon leads them into the inevitable danger and mystery befitting their family names. Readers will find it easy to care for the hapless Jamie and, eventually, the prickly, multi-layered Charlotte as they solve mysteries and must face the deeper issues that result from their fraught investigations.
