It’s time to don your ’Tonka blue and white as Minnetonka High School (MHS) students are gearing up for the annual homecoming parade on September 20. “It’s so important to the community … because it’s such a tradition,” says student government president Jack Rotman. This year, keep your eyes open for athletic teams, music groups and—of course—the homecoming court. The MHS marching band, a perennial crowd favorite, will perform. The parade route through Excelsior is perfect, says Rotman, since it’s a place where Minnetonka students like to hang out. And where to park your lawn chairs and blankets? Janet Swiecichowski of the Minnetonka School District says the best place to watch is between Second and Third streets. Sit back, relax and get ready to welcome a special guest: Jeff Erickson will ride in his first homecoming parade as MHS principal.MHS Homecoming Parade September 20 4 p.m. Water Street, from Lake Street to Mount Calvary ChurchDowntown Excelsior
