Excelsior celebrates its fourth annual Big Island ski event.

Excelsior Commons Beach is where we often like to soak up the rays during the warm summer months. But don’t forget—we can enjoy the beloved beach all year ’round. The Big Island & Back winter event (a sibling of the popular summertime Big Island & Back paddle) is for skiers of all ages who want to get active. On January 28, skiers meet at Excelsior Brewing Co. and then start the race at Excelsior Commons Beach. All proceeds go to the Fresh Water Society and ICA Food Shelf.

Ski/kite, 11 a.m., cross-country and snowshoeing, 1 p.m.
$35 adults; $25 under 18.
