At the inaugural Lowertown Pop market at the Union Depot, attendees can enjoy a leisurely afternoon of shopping while supporting local businesses and a Saint Paul charity. The April 9 pop-up market will feature Minnesota artisans and craftspeople selling items including food, beauty products, jewelry, fishing gear, spirits and more. Half the ticket sales will go toward one lucky Minnesota maker in a random game of chance where the winner will be determined by choosing a box containing a token, and the other half of the ticket sales will be donated to Face to Face, a Lowertown nonprofit that provides counseling, health care and shelter programs for homeless youth, helping approximately 3,300 young people annually.
Event organizer and founder Becky Sturm, owner of StormSister Spatique, says the Lowertown Pop’s soft launch at the Union Depot holiday bake sale last winter was a huge success, and she’s excited for the first official market. “There’s so many folks who love to do local shopping,” she says. “It’s really fun to hear from people who are so thrilled to see the products that are made here in Minnesota.” Sturm has seen an increased desire to buy local, and finds that the Lowertown community is a great place for artisans to thrive.
Tickets for the Lowertown Pop market are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. The event runs from 10 a.m.–4 p.m.
