Jeweler Jon Gilbert has been honing his craft for a long time (“It all started with a jewelry and metals class way back in high school,” he says) and has been making jewelry professionally for 26 years. At his shop, Wayzata Jewelers, he offers design, custom-manufacture and repair services. Some of his (and clients’) favorite pieces are the custom pet pendants Gilbert creates—a client provides a photograph of their pet, and Gilbert hand-carves or uses design software to create a miniature metal likeness. A few memorable animals he’s made include a dragonfly, an octopus, a ladybug, a fish and a loon, not to mention the many adorable dogs, of course.
