Local Farmers Markets Reopen in May and June

Hooray! It’s farmers market season once again. Don’t miss the opening days of our local favorites, this month and next.

Minnetonka Farmers Market
Tuesdays, 3-7 p.m. // Starts June 12, Minnetonka Civic Center Campus, 14600 Minnetonka Blvd., Minnetonka

The Minnetonka market offers locally grown produce, fresh eggs, meats and baked goods, as well as an array of homemade soaps, artwork and jewelry provided by venders that change each week. Along with great shopping, check out entertainment options like live music and face painting for kids. Matt Higgens, the city’s senior communications coordinator, says the Power of Produce initiative will return this year. It was created to help children ages 4 to 12 get involved in and educated about where their food comes from. Kids who visit the market get to try new fruits and vegetables, and meet the farmers and producers. Participants receive vouchers they can use to purchase different products at the market.

Wayzata Farmers Market
Thursdays, 1:30–5:30 p.m. // Starts June 7, 688 Lake St., Wayzata

Deb Hoen, manager of the Wayzata Farmers Market, says many customer-favorite vendors will return this year, including local meat and honey producers. The market team will also offer additional options for fruits and veggies.

Excelsior Farmers Market
Tuesdays, 2-6 p.m. // Starts May 22, 200 Water St., Excelsior

The Excelsior market is proud to welcome back produce providers like Longsiding Farm, Farm Minn., Schwartz Family Farms and Sheepy Hollow. Excelsior-Lake Minnetonka Chamber of Commerce marketing director Jocelyn Youngstedt says the market is also bringing in some new vendors who will offer sweet treats, like Doxy’s Donuts’ apple cider donuts. Yum!
