What was your favorite part of growing up in Mound?
It’s a small community, so it was really great knowing everyone in my grade at school. You feel like you know everyone from kindergarten through senior year.
What’s your favorite childhood memory?
Every winter when the lake would freeze over, my dad and I would always walk across the lake and watch the broomball game (near Lord Fletcher’s). I just always loved that.
What did you miss most about Mound when you moved to Louisiana?
I missed being able to go in the water! There are so many lakes down there, but you can’t go in the water for fear of crocodiles and alligators. I went around lakes (in Louisiana) and it just wasn’t the same.
Where is the best place to grab a bite in the Lake Minnetonka area?
Minnetonka Drive In. That’s the place I always go to when I go back.
The Lake Minnetonka area is great in the summer, but what makes it great during the fall and winter months?
The colors. Get out on a boat and go around the lakes. It’s always beautiful.
Where do you head to shop?
Overall, I love Excelsior. You can pretty much walk down that main drag and find what you need.
Do you have any hidden secrets of the Mound area?
Truffle Hill Chocolates in Excelsior. Amazing chocolates!
What makes Mound a great place to call home?
The thing about Minnesotans is that even if they leave, most tend to come back. It’s a great place to live. There’s nothing like being home in Minnesota.
