Minnesotans live for the summer. Every year when the days get longer and sunnier, our spirits begin to lighten, too. Winters are long and arduous, so when the summer solstice hits, we know it’s time to soak up the sun and start having some fun. Here are some of my favorite tips for making the most of it.
- Try not to fill up every open space on your calendar. Leave time to play and be spontaneous.
- Get outside. Plant a garden. Ride a bike. Take a dip in the lake. Try something new.
- Take in an outdoor concert, festival or art fair, or complete a 5K run/walk.
Luckily, we live in a community that has a plethora of opportunities to explore the outdoors and have fun this summer. You can rent a kayak or paddleboard, stroll Art on the Lake in Excelsior, take in an amazing fireworks display or explore the many trails we have in our backyard. No matter what it is that brings you joy this summer, surrender to the sweetness of it all, as Minnesotans do best.
