PULLQUOTE: “We want to teach women how to pull clothes together and feel special and proud.” —Kathleen Bryan, co-owner, House of 365
STORY:
Wayzata, you’ve got some new neighbors. Diane von Furstenberg, Andrew Marc and couture lingerie designer Shell Belle have moved to town, and their address is 750 E. Lake St. A 4,000-square-foot boutique, House of 365 (“three-six-five”) opened in August, and the name of its game is fab fashion, glitzy glam and convenient couture.
Like a small department store, the boutique carries all-natural beauty products, shapewear and lingerie, professional wardrobe staples, high-fashion statement pieces and everything in between. There’s even a tailor available in-house. You can buy a complete designer outfit from the shoes to the earrings, get fitted and have it all delivered to your house when it’s done.
It’s the brainchild of Kathleen and Annalise Bryan, a mother-daughter duo who share an obsession with great fashion and a passion for helping women learn the art of pulling together realistic, beautiful wardrobes and rocking them for every occasion. “We want to make women look and feel beautiful 365 days a year,” says Annalise, co-owner and executive brand director. “We can dress you to go to the beach or a wedding.”
Kathleen, who owns the shop, developed a taste for sophisticated, high-end pieces as a socialite growing up in London. For her, creating a style is as much about a fashionable, polished mindset and the ease of combining trends with classic looks as it is about mining for stand-alone pieces. “We want to teach women how to pull clothes together and feel special and proud,” she says.
Kathleen recalls staying at the Ritz Carlton as a young single mom. It’s an experience that has shaped her vision for the new shop. “There was an amazing elegance there that I’m trying to re-create and build into my staff,” she says. “People knew your name, and there was amazing service, an attitude of ‘whatever you like, we will get.’ ”
Annalise learned impeccable fashion from her mom as a young girl, but formally began her career in fashion while she was in college in Los Angeles, modeling and working as a set designer and stylist. “I really got into buying, and learned how to go in and pick out a look for an ad or a movie,” she says. “I love to style people out.”
Now she calls New York home and makes the rounds to international fashion shows, buying a few seasons in advance and keeping an ear to the runway for upcoming trends. When she’s not traveling, Annalise will lend her keen eye to clients at House of 365, offering one-on-one style consulting by appointment. She’s filled House 365 with pieces from major brands like Catherine Malandrino, J Brand and Liviana Conti.
The Wayzata boutique is a destination shop, where visitors have access to global brands. But at House of 365, it’s not just about big-name, international designers. The Bryans want a hometown angle too, like local jewelry artist Elena Ovss, of Sun and Moon Jewelry, who creates one-of-a-kind beaded necklaces. “It takes her about a month to make one necklace,” says Annalise. “I can’t wait to have a trunk show to show off her art!”
Kathleen hopes that eventually all three of her daughters will get involved in the start-up family business, and she hopes to develop the store into a national brand. But while her dreams are big, she wants to keep the essentials—service and elegance—at the forefront. “You walk in here, and you’re going to be wowed,” says Kathleen. “It’s going to be a royal experience. Everyone is welcome.”
