The Excelsior Fire District plays a vital role in the Lake Minnetonka community. From saving lives to spreading knowledge about fire prevention, they do it all. So it’s no surprise that the firefighters of Excelsior Fire like to cut loose—footloose, that is.
This year is the 32nd annual Firefighters Dance hosted by the Excelsior Fire team. On July 21, a polka band will be playing at 5 p.m. followed by a performance at 8 p.m. by the band Soul Tight Committee. The firefighters will be grilling pork chops, brats and hot dogs, and serving chips and a variety of desserts, which are all reasonably priced (around $2 and $3).
For the kiddos, face painting, games and inflatables are available with purchase of a ticket. For the adults, a silent auction featuring gift cards, golf outings, fishing trips and numerous other prizes will run throughout the night.
“We love seeing the community come to our house and have fun. It’s enjoyable listening to their stories and just being able to say hi,” says firefighter Brandy Graef.
Guests can get to the dance by bus, which is free to everyone, whether you’re a resident of Excelsior or coming from out of town. For more details, visit excelsiorfire.org, or see the sidebar for detailed contact information.
