An Education in Beer

The St. Paul Beer Fest returns to the Minnesota State Fairgrounds.

A beer historian, a brewers’ panel, samples with some new variations and music will greet visitors at this year’s St. Paul Beer Fest on June 10. “It’s a great way to kick off summer,” organizer Mark Opdahl says.

The St. Paul Beer Fest started when Opdahl and business partner Juno Choi went to a beer fest 10 years ago that seemed to be an unorganized party. They decided to create their own event that would “provide an opportunity [for participants] to be responsible,” Opdahl says. With this in mind, their event includes a designated driver ticket option as well as educational seminars about beer and breweries.

Tickets can be purchased at various liquor stores and breweries. See the St. Paul Beer Fest website for details.
