Small-town trick-or-treating returns to Deephaven this Halloween as part of the Cottagewood General Store’s seasonal closing. Open only during the summer months, the Cottagewood General Store has marked down the prices of remaining inventory and is celebrating the end of the store’s season with a Halloween spooktacular.

On October 31 from 5 to 7 p.m., bring your kiddos decked out in their festive costumes for candy, hot chocolate and warm apple cider. Once the store’s candy supply is demolished, join a group of fellow attendees as they trick-or-treat around surrounding neighborhoods. There’s no need to RSVP—just come trick-or-treat ready.

Debbie Trent, a board member of the Cottagewood Community Foundation, says the fun is not a store event so much as it is neighborhood event. “It’s small-town fun,” Trent says, who loves watching the kids run from house to house collecting candy and enjoying the occasional haunted attractions in some yards.
