Help Keep Kids Warm This Winter

Local radio host helps collect winter gear for kids.

Local Radio Host & Writer Natalie Webster Asking You to Help Keep Kids Warm

Excelsior, Minnesota November 4, 2015: For several years Natalie Webster has been sharing her outside the box adventures around Lake Minnetonka and beyond through local publications and her blog www.AdventuresWithNatalie. As a radio host on myTalk 107.1 she dishes weekly about pop culture and all things entertainment.

Having a platform from which to communicate is not new to her. Webster is now using that platform and her voice to provide more than just entertainment for people. She has partnered with ResourceWest, a non-profit community agency that serves low-income families and individuals living in the west metro area who are struggling to make ends meet each day.

“I’ve started from scratch a few times throughout my life. When my children were very young I was a single mother struggling to make ends meet. I know what it feels like to not be able to provide a winter coat for your child.” shared Webster.

Webster is coordinating a winter gear drive with area businesses this winter for the families ResourceWest benefits.  Webster and ResourceWest are asking area residents to donate the following:

Waterproof winter gloves of all sizes, gently used or new
Snow pants of any size, gently used or new
Snow boots of any size, gently used or new
Winter coats in children’s sizes 8-16

One of the struggles ResourseWest has each year is fitting local children with winter gear. In recent years they haven’t had enough to fill the need.

“There are children that will be freezing at the bus stop, and not because they are too cool to wear a winter coat, but because they don’t have one.  There will be children who can’t play outside at recess because they don’t have the right winter gear. These are children in our community because ResourceWest serves families in Minnetonka, Hopkins, Excelsior, Shorewood, Deephaven, Woodland and Greenwood.” shared Webster.

If you would like to donate new or gently used winter gear for area children in need you can drop them off all winter long at the following participating local businesses:

Ooh La La 274 Water St. Excelsior
Excelsior Real Estate 386 Oak St. Excelsior
Amore & Fede 226 Water St. Excelsior

This year, Webster has partnered with ResourceWest, a non-profit community agency that serves low-income families and individuals living in the west metro area who are struggling to make ends meet. “I’ve started from scratch a few times throughout my life," Webster says.
