Sometimes a simple conversation is where it all starts. Consider the power of dialogue: It is where common interests are realized and relationships forged. It is with this inspiration that Hammer Residences has created Hammer Conversations.
Hammer, a 91-year-old Wayzata nonprofit providing adults and children with developmental disabilities the opportunity to experience life to its fullest, provides housing and supportive services to more than 1,300 people throughout Minnesota. The organization operates 46 homes and apartment programs in the western metro, including Wayzata, Minnetonka, Eden Prairie and Plymouth, to name a few.
Hammer Conversations is a new initiative started by the organization to show the public what it's like to participate in Hammer's programs. The series will introduce three unique individuals living inspiring, supported lives in the communities they call home. The first video features Leslie and Rosemary Fish, a mother-daughter duo who reflect on what Hammer has done for them individually. Leslie is a recipient of Hammer's community buiding and she chats with her mother Rosemary about her day-to-day activities and what her life is like because of the nonprofit's support.
