At just 17 years old, Billie Eilish is a homeschooled choir nerd taking the world by storm. In a similar fashion to Lorde, her debut album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? opened on top of the charts worldwide. However, Eilish isn’t just a purveyor of power pop anthems. She can also be nuanced, channeling her inner Fiona Apple on the lounge-like “xanny.” The production on the record is top notch and Eilish kept that aspect close to home; it was produced by her older brother and co-writer, Finneas. Other standout tracks include “you should see me in a crown,” “when the party’s over” and “bury a friend.” I recommend this as a perfect set of songs for a person coming of age (or the hip parent trying to figure them out).
