Be Green at Jake O'Connor's

A night out at Jake O’Connor’s is a classic for St. Patrick’s Day.
Jake O’Connor’s offers drinks inspired by the Emerald Isle, like traditional Irish coffee with hand-whipped cream.

Admit it—we’re all looking for the perfect St. Patrick’s Day party where we can show off our “Kiss me, I’m Irish” T-shirts. Here in the Lake Minnetonka area, no one does St. Paddy’s Day better than Jake O’Connor’s, Excelsior’s favorite Irish pub. But I’m guessing you already knew to look there.

For this special day, Jake O’Connor’s condenses its menu, focusing on Irish and Irish-American favorites: corned beef sandwiches, fish and chips and “the best corned beef and cabbage in the United States,” says owner Dermot Cowley. All of which can be washed down with a Dublin Donkey. Cowley explains, “It’s kind of like a Moscow Mule, except instead of vodka, we use 2 Gingers [whiskey].”

Bagpipe performances and all-day live music will keep your feet moving, so wear your most comfortable ghillies. Listen for U2 tribute band Rattle and Hum, the American roots styling of Traveled Ground and Celtic rockers, the Wild Colonial Bhoys.

“It’s loud and it’s fun,” Cowley says. Put on your shamrock tee, and we’ll see you there.
