Almost a year ago, Tiffany Winter, the Mound-based author of Lake Minnetonka Eats, submitted her book to be considered for an Independent Publisher Book Award (IPPY).
Last May, an astonished and honored Winter accepted the bronze award in the 2016 Midwest Best Regional Nonfiction category. Since the first IPPY award ceremony in 1996, there have been over 6,000 award-winning titles from around the world.
This year’s award ceremony took place on the 99th floor of the Willis tower in downtown Chicago; Winter attended with her mom, Mary. “I didn’t realize how big a deal it was until the first few people I met were from all over the world—Australia, New Zealand and Germany,” says Winter.
Keep an eye out for future projects from Winter, including a foodie walking tour in Excelsior.
