Before heading to Thanksgiving dinner, get a little exercise and fresh air. Participants in the Tonka Turkey Trot 5K will meet at the Minnetonka High School dome for the run (designed for runners and walkers of all abilities). Because of the high number of participants, event organizers don’t recommend bringing strollers or furry friends to the race. Last year, the race had 1,500 finishers. (Check out the Turkey Scoot, a 100-yard dash that takes place inside of the dome for the younger speedsters.)
“This has been a new tradition that people have now added, and I think that’s what makes it really fun,” says event coordinator Ingrid Steele.
All proceeds from the event go to the Minnetonka Track & Field and Cross Country Association.
